Desktop install

Optional Electron app for local execution and desktop relay mode.

End users

Download and run the Windows installer from your administrator or update feed. The app bundles Python and starts the local portal on launch. User data (database, trades, broker settings) is stored beside the install in SmartTradePortalDP-data.

Build from source (developers)

cd desktop
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\build-installer.ps1

Requires Node.js 20+ on the build machine. Output installer appears under desktop/dist/.

Market data sync

On first login of the day (IST), the portal may download market reference files (lot sizes, F&O masters, broker instrument masters) from the configured GitHub repo. A short status line appears under Available Funds while sync runs.

Updates

Desktop builds check DESKTOP_UPDATE_FEED_URL for newer versions. The dashboard shows an update banner when a newer build is available.
